Eating an Elephant One Bite at a Time...
Given a choice, most seniors would prefer to “age in place.” And, many will be able to do so by modifying their home, using Seaglass Village volunteers, and/or by adding in-home services. Happily, for many seniors, your current home will be forever. But for others, circumstances may lead to exploring alternative living arrangements. Whether aging in place, downsizing, upsizing, or moving to assisted living, the process can feel overwhelming.
Eating An Elephant One Bite at a Time will help you make informed decisions about your current and future living situations by answering key questions such as:
1) How do I make my home “aging ready”?
2) How can I pay for assisted living?
3) Who should I talk to first about selling my home?
By taking small but manageable bites of the “elephant,” you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
Guest speaker for this event is Marblehead resident Emily Gaffney, an award-winning Realtor and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES) with Coldwell Banker Realty. Emily is also a sponsor of the Seaglass Village non-profit organization. She understands the importance of knowing a home’s value for the purposes of life, estate, financial, and Medicare planning. As an SRES, she is also well versed in modifying one’s home to make it safe and accessible for aging in place.
